Concept Art for MANIAC
Before I began my residency at the FRL lab, I was the concept illustrator and assistant art director on a new Netflix series, MANIAC, which premiered last Friday. I worked closely with the director, Cary Fukunaga, and production designer, Alex DiGerlando, to imagine and conceive the sets of this sci-fi black comedy.
Here’s the trailer for the show: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L6cDDmk-O5A
For the first time ever seen in public (exclusive to this blog!), here is some concept art I did for the series. They are illustrated using a mix of digital painting and 3D rendering. I have included some stills from the show to compare the illustration with the finished set. Enjoy and please check out the series!

Amazing work. I love being able to see concept art come to life, especially one relating to an altered reality. It all felt close to home and nostalgic, but also dysphoric and lucid.
