NYU Tech Summit is Coming Next Week
As many of you know, our lab has collaborations with Physical Therapy and Music Department on a few projects including the VR-based balance rehabilitation project I have been working on. Recently, our work was accepted as a presentation to the NYU Technology Summit (https://www.nyu.edu/life/information-technology/about-nyu-it/key-projects-and-initiatives/nyu-technology-summit.html). The summit aims at showcasing innovative and emerging technologies used in academia and industry. It is a one-day event and is open to all NYU students, faculty, staff, and alumni for free. You should take a look if you are interested in exploring novel technologies and ideas happening at NYU. The summit is on Wednesday, November 14, 2018, locates at Kimmel Center for University Life, 60 Washington Square S., New York, NY 10012.
Our presentation is about the VR platform we built with scenario-based environments and 3D sounds. The platform provides game-like scenes for simulating real scenarios that people may encounter every day. The goal is to help patients with balance dysfunctions to immerse themselves in the virtual scenes and gradually conquer the imbalance caused by the anxiety from visual and auditory stimuli of the complex environments. Clinicians can use UI to adjust intensities of visual or auditory stimuli, instead of physically changing the setups and environments as in traditional rehabilitation exercises.
Hope to see you next Wednesday!
